The summer’s come to an end, it’s the middle of October and you’re feeling #burntout. The sun barely comes out, and when it does it hardly protects you from the strong ass cold wind that keeps creeping up into your sweater. You’re trying to get your good vibes back, but this cold weather mixed with the stress of everything else going on (hope my college 20 Somethings survived their midterms!) has you in an emotional tangle. Relatable? Then it’s time to hit the reset button
The change of season can throw you off sometimes, especially when you’re still recovering from a situation that sent your vibrations plummeting—like me. So this post is really for both of us, because as much as I love Fall the dramatic weather change has slowed me down and thrown me off a little. It’s a fresh new week, so try these steps to untangle yourself and get a fresh start.
Detox…hard. Clean your apartment, put your room back in order, delete old messages and media out of your phone. Clean your social media feed by muting or completely deleting pages that are filled with gossip, hate, or just piss you off every time you see it. All of that is causing blockage and will distract you from your to-do list.

One thing that is also necessary (but really hard for me) is to cut back on your weed intake. Take a day or two to have a clear head so that you can really detox your life and not be distracted by tv or have the urge to scroll on social media all day.
Take a shower and picture the stress and tension being literally rinsed off. Wash your hair, wash your laundry, and completely declutter.
Now we’ve stripped ourselves of everything old and we have plenty of room for the new.
Write out your goals. Already got them written down? Write them again. And again. Remind yourself about what you want and why you get up and do whatever you do everyday. Write down those goals that you’ve already accomplished too and check them off every time you complete one. It’s going to make you feel good seeing that you stuck to your plans and got shit done.
Check your attitude. It’s important to check in with yourself and your feelings often so that negative emotions don’t linger. Your mood can be off for a number of reasons: the cold weather, an unsolved problem or maybe something way deeper. Whatever it is, acknowledge your bad feelings and remind yourself that you control how you feel. If you don’t want that little thing that happened to upset you so much then don’t allow it! Sort through that feeling and ask yourself why you’re really upset. Most of the time when I do that I realize that there was a deeper reason and it’s usually something so little that I wish I would have taken care of it so it didn’t affect me so strongly.
Journal as often as possible. Take note of the way you feel everyday and keep track about the way your day goes. It doesn’t have to be a book; a simple note made about something that made you smile is fine. This way you can see where most of your energy is going. Are you typically happy? Do things happen in your normal day-to-day routine that make you feel good? Or are you stressing about the same thing every day and finding more things to stress about?

List what you are grateful for daily. Writing down the things you already have that you’re grateful for will attract even more things to be grateful for. Write why you’re thankful for these things as well. Tell the Universe thank you for what it’s already given!
Read self-care/motivational books–or listen on Audible (if you’ve never used them, your first book is free!) Motivational reads can really help you when you feel like you’re in a rut and need some insight. Here are some of my go-to books right now. I reread them as I need them and highlight important parts for me to go back and reference. Make yourself a nice hot toddy, throw on some sweats and find a comfy corner. (Note: If you’d like me to post a list of the top motivational books to read, let me know in the comments or on the blog’s Instagram page)

Take more time to sit and reflect. Think about whether or not what you do in your daily routine is helping to get you to your goals. Example: I want my blog to have more viewers. Am I putting time aside to work on my posts? Am I staying active on the blog’s social media? What can I do to draw more attention to the website? If you feel like you could be doing more or that changing up your routine would be beneficial, do that shit.
Once your vibrations are high again, keep them high. It can be difficult to keep your vibrations high during the winter because of the cold, but keep in mind that this is the time to shed the old and transform into something better. The trees shed their leaves, the wind clears the air. Do the same in your own life and watch how quickly things change for you. Your subconscious will be more positive and positivity will come to you naturally. Namasté, 20 Somethings.
